"Glow- on- the- go Beauty" Bircher Recipe

Start your day aglow!

Try this easy, quick collagen-rich bircher that's sure to make you look and feel great!

Collagen is a protein that makes up about one third of all the protein in your body. With the help of vitamin C, Zinc and amino acids, it is produced by the body and stored in your bones, muscles and blood. Collagen is most well known for being responsible for healthy joints and subtle, elastic skin. Among its many benefits, it keeps skin hydrated, relieves osteoarthritis and is linked to balancing blood pressure and blood sugar.

As we age, we lose collagen and its production decreases. This can compromise our bone and joint health. Diminishing levels of collagen can also dry out the skin and lead to more wrinkles and premature ageing. A supplement is advised to help keep collagen levels optimal for healthy bones, joints and skin. Traditionally, collagen supplements come in powder form and are derived from animal sources, but now there are plenty of cruelty free vegan sources too! Below is an easy way, no fuss way to add collagen into your daily diet. This recipe is quick and can be made in advance.

Collagen Bircher Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 Tablespoons black chia seeds

  • 1/4 cup dry oats

  • 1 1/4 cup milk of Almond or Oat milk ( Alt: you can sub for juice)

  • 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 scoops vegan or choice collagen **( I like: Garden of life : Vegan My kind Organics brand)

  • blueberries, raspberries or chopped apple

Method:

Add vanilla extract to milk and stir. Tip your collagen powder into a cup, add your milk ( or juice of choice) and stir well, dissolving the collagen. Mix all the ingredients together into a small container ( I re-use sealable small jars for easy transport), until well incorporated. Cover and leave in the fridge overnight. The Bircher will be ready to eat in the morning.

When ready to eat, top with berries or chopped fruit. Voilà!

Enjoy!
